The last “thing”! I know it’s a bit of a late post.. but hey, I made it on March 1st and photographed it soon after. I think writing the actual post is what gets me.
This necklace was originally made while on the phone with my friend. I got some plastic string, randomly grabbed at a bunch of pearls (fake) that I’d collected over the years, made a knot and wore it. The problem with it was 1) the string ends kept coming out of the beads (where I tried tucking them into to hide them) and were poking my neck 2) even though it was long enough to go 3 times around the neck, I couldn’t since there was no clasp and 3) I wanted to re-randomize the beads.
Hence, thing #28. Restrung with wire metal, proper clasps and new bead order.

After cleaning up my craft space earlier this week, I rediscovered my beloved compass from childhood.
I used to make these w/my mom which she learned as a child also. It starts off with a circle. Then, take the compass point and place it anywhere on the circle – make a half circle. Then, place the compass point on one of those points and make another half circle.. etc. To get more lines as in this one, place the compass point between the “leaves” that are created. I’m sure there are other versions of this.. curious to see if anyone else made these.

Over a year ago, I saw a simple legwarmer pattern in a book at Purl Soho. The pattern was this:
Cast on 56 stitches. K2, P2 all around and bind off when happy with length. This would make something I’d seen in stores already. But I didn’t want something I’d seen. A mass produced item would’ve been more expensive (this project was about 1 skein worth, $7.50) but it would’ve taken a lot less time to obtain :)
What I wanted was something that would flare out at the bottom so it can go over my boots as well as be long enough to cover most of my shins. I’d keep seeing one or the other. Long legwarmers that abruptly stop at the ankle or short ones that go well over booties. Just needed to mix the two up and make it in a color to match my existing hat.
I present to you:
The Mellow Legwarmers pattern
Materials:
1 skein of Cascade 220 wool yarn
4 DPNs size 8
Pattern
CO 56 stitches
Rows 1-60: (K2, P2)* til end of row
Row 61: (K1, M1, P2)* til end of row
Row 62-71: (K3, P2) * til end of row
Row 72: Knit bind off. Wear. Do “Maniac” dance.*
* optional
Enoy :)

The 2nd legwarmer is done! Okay, now for the snow to clear and actually be able to wear skirts and shoes that are covered by said legwarmers.
